nib, a leading health insurer, recognised the importance of strengthening its existing wellbeing strategy to better align with its business objectives and the evolving needs of its employees.
The challenge was to review and reshape its wellbeing approach to create a integrated and effective strategy that would support employee health and wellbeing and enhance the company’s overall employee experience (EX) and attractiveness as an employer.
Exsona partnered with nib to support the initial stages of the project, focusing on two key phases: Discover and Develop.
Objective Review: We began by working closely with nib’s leadership and HR teams to clarify and prioritise their objectives for the wellbeing strategy. This included reviewing the current state of wellbeing at nib, understanding existing strengths, and identifying gaps that needed to be addressed.
Employee and Leadership Engagement: To ensure the strategy would be well-informed and relevant, we facilitated a series of focus groups with employees and leadership. These sessions were designed to gather insights, experiences, and ideas directly from those most impacted by the strategy.
Competitive Analysis: We conducted a thorough analysis of nib’s competitors to understand how their wellbeing offerings compared, identifying areas where nib could differentiate itself and enhance its Employee Value Proposition (EVP).
Opportunity Identification: Based on the insights gathered, we helped nib identify key moments in the employee lifecycle where wellbeing could be most effectively integrated. This allowed us to align the wellbeing strategy with broader EX initiatives, ensuring a holistic and impactful approach.
Idea Generation and Prioritization: We led brainstorming sessions with the project team to generate a comprehensive listof potential features and initiatives for the wellbeing strategy. These ideas were then assessed and prioritized based on their potential impact and alignment with nib’s strategic goals.
Employee Campaign: To foster engagement and buy-in, we launched an employee idea generation campaign, inviting all employees to contribute their thoughts on improving wellbeing at nib. This initiative not only generated valuable ideas but also helped to create a sense of ownership and involvement among the workforce.
While our work focused on the foundational stages of the project, the collaboration laid the groundwork for a robust and effective wellbeing strategy at nib. Key outcomes included:
● Clear Strategic Direction: nib gained clarity on the most important aspects of their wellbeing strategy, ensuring that the final plan would be both focused and aligned with their broader business objectives.
● Enhanced Employee Engagement: The inclusive approach to strategy development, involving both employees and leadership, helped to create a sense of ownership and engagement with the wellbeing initiatives.
● Foundation for Excellence: With a solid base established through thorough research and strategic prioritisation, nib is now well-positioned to build a world-class wellbeing program that will attract and retain top talent and enhance the overall employee experience.
nib appreciated the structured andcollaborative approach that Exsona brought to the project.
By involving key stakeholders at every stage and ensuring that the strategy was grounded in real insights and data, we were able to deliver valuable support in the early stages of this important initiative. Here's what nib had to say about the experience:
